A mechanic was inspecting a Ford Edge and found something that a Ford employee had lost about a decade ago.
There’s a lot of bittersweet irony in that.
That’s partly because the car is no longer in production.
But mostly because the thing that was found was a wallet, which leads to an obvious conclusion.

The reason why this wallet is (nearly) worthless now
Chad Volk – the owner of an auto repair shop in Lake Crystal, Minnesota – found a wallet in a 2015 Ford Edge that was brought in for a service.
As reported by Kare 11, a Minnesota news outlet, he found the wallet by accident.
He removed the air box and could not fit it back into its place, and that’s because there was a wallet stuck in there.
The wallet belongs to a Ford assembly line worker who worked at the factory where the Ford Edge was being manufactured.

There’s some bittersweet irony in this story, mainly because most things in that wallet are now worthless anyway.
The Ford mechanic in question found $10 in cash in the wallet but everything else – credit cards, IDs, the worker’s driving license – must have expired and been long replaced.
Still, the Ford employee will at least be happy to recover that $10 bill.
About the Ford Edge
The Ford Edge, like so many other long-running car models, was discontinued for strategic reasons.
Even though the Ford F-150 is no longer America’s best-selling vehicle, it still sells like hot cakes, and demand for pick-up trucks is still growing.
SUVs are also in demand at the minute, but the Ford Edge was in no man’s land in the market.

It was too small to sell well as a large SUV and it was too big to challenge rivals in the small SUV segment.
As a result, Ford decided to simply pull the plug to focus on producing even more truck models as well as EVs.
After all, the electric Ford Mustang is currently outselling the ‘standard’ Mustang.
