Two American muscle titans have been placed together in a drag race death match, as a supercharged 2025 Ford Mustang GT has been pitted against a Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
When you think of American drag racing, you immediately think of ‘Hellcat’ and ‘Mustang’.
Sorry, Chevy, you can take the sports car accolades, but immovable beasts are burnout kings and racing royalty in the States.
But which of these drag racing legends takes the crown?

Ford Mustang GT vs Dodge Challenger Hellcat: A photo finish
Of course, these cars are no strangers to straight-line racing. But recent years have seen EVs come onto the scene with electrifying acceleration.
It’s why the latest Charger was able to get one up on the Mustang, although a quicker GT humbled the Tesla Model S Plaid, showing it can still hang with the best.
This is an even playing field, though.
Thanks to Import Race on YouTube, the two icons were set side-by-side in a dead start, and it was all over in 10 seconds.

Both cars kicked up a cloud of smoke as their wheels spun into a frenzy, but it was the Dodge Challenger Hellcat that got off the mark quickest.
From there on, it was almost impossible to tell who would hit the ticker tape first.
But the commanding early lead paid dividends, and the Hellcat crossed the line with 10:13 on the clock.
Whereas the Mustang playing catch-up was slower by one blink of the eye at 10:30.
A 0.17-second differential left the Ford Mustang GT in disarray.

We all win when American Muscle cars drag race
While, on this occasion, the Hellcat proved to be a nervy winner, the era of EVs appears to be dawning on us with comfortable torque rates that outshine even the best combustion cars.
But it all gets a bit boring and predictable when EVs take on American muscle, and we find ourselves always rooting for the old reliable icon.
So, when we do get the opportunity to see two legends go head-to-head, it’s always a spectacle worthy of tuning in to.
Now, if supercars are more for your liking, then we have that covered too, with a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and Koenigsegg Jesko Attack heavyweight bout.
