When buying a car, getting the right one is important – and the Ford Mustang GTD is no exception with the US-based car manufacturer seriously upping the game.

You ideally want a color that suits your personality, or failing that, one that simply looks nice.

Well, Ford is going one better and offering buyers the chance to be ultra-specific about the color of their Mustang.

How to ensure your Ford Mustang is one of a kind

Ford Mustangs may cost $325,000, but customers pay a bit more to ensure their color is distinct.

Usually, six colors are on offer in Mustang GTD’s base price.

However, with the ‘Extended Color Palette’, thousands more options are available.

But that’s not all.

There’s a ‘Lock-Out’ option, which allows you to reserve one color for yourself and block anyone else from choosing it.

It is a case of first come, first served.

The GTD is already guaranteed to increase in value, but having a unique color will accelerate that.

Currently, there’s not been a specific price tag attached to this option.

But given the status that could come with booking one favorite color, there’s no doubt that many will be paying up.

Ford has likely made many similar shades to keep people happy at any rate.

This isn’t the first time a manufacturer has offered such unique color options to their customers.

But their lock-out option is fairly new – and adds another level of competition.

After all, if you were wavering on buying a car, wouldn’t you just so you could secure your favorite color?

I know I would – if I had $325,000 to spare.

Car colors are very important to some people.

Take Travis Scott, for example – he loves mocha brown so much that he takes all his cars to West Coast Customs to give every car in his garage a bespoke paint job.
