Ford has officially released plans to unveil a new, next-gen EV as part of its range.

Like other car brands, the Blue Oval has been affected by recent changes to the car market in 2025.

As a result, the brand has officially confirmed that it has plans to reveal a next-gen EV next month.

And Ford CEO Jim Farley has referred to this move as a “Model T moment” for the company.

Ford outperforms Q2 expectations so far

Ford is, in many ways, America’s most iconic car manufacturing company.

But even a company as giant in stature as Ford is far from immune to changes in the car world.

Tariffs from the current US administration have rocked several vehicle manufacturers.

In addition, new competition from China has seen firms such as Tesla struggle to keep up with the rise.

But it has actually managed to surpass its expectations for the second quarter of 2025.

Yesterday saw the automaker host its Q2 earnings call – and the signs are positive for the Blue Oval.

Revenue has reached an all-time high of $50.18 billion.

Its performance has been driven by traditionally strong sales in the truck and SUV markets.

Additionally – and more importantly – the company’s focus on EVs has positioned it well against competitors.

Ford CEO promises “Model T moment” with next-gen EV

And it is this focus on a next-gen EV that could propel the brand forward for the next few years.

Ford CEO Jim Farley was, of course, a strong presence on the Q2 earnings call.

And it was Jim Farley who provided the headline comment from the earnings call itself.

“August 11 will be a big day for all of us at Ford,” the brand CEO revealed on the call.

“We will be in Kentucky to share more about our plans to design and build a breakthrough electric vehicle and a platform in the US.”

“This is a Model T moment for us at Ford,” Farley said, concluding his announcement.

The brand has been secretly working on a ‘Skunkworks’ project to bring cheap electric vehicles to market.

It’s being reported that this electric platform will underpin multiple new, next-gen EVs.

This could include a compact SUV, a small pickup truck, and possibly a delivery services vehicle.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the Ford event on August 11th – it could be massive.
