After pooling together to buy a deserted Florida island for $65,000, these four friends hit the jackpot, transforming it into a paradise worth $14M. Its name? Beer Can Island.

This sounds like every 2am dream ever discussed.

But this group of mates followed through on a pipe dream that has turned into a tropical goldmine.

Purchasing Pine Key Island for a matter of $65,000, their investment is now worth a colossal $14 million.

How four friends became multi-millionaires by buying a deserted Florida island

‘Hey dude, do you want to buy a private island with me?”

That’s quite simply how this quadfecta of friends managed to open one of the most successful resorts in Tampa Bay and embark on a millionaire’s lifestyle.

With a range of private islands located in the bay, including one entirely solar-powered recluse, a group of pals dreamt of making one their own.

So, in 2017, they pulled together $65,000 and purchased Pine Key Island.

Nowadays, it goes by Beer Can Island, and has now increased in value 21-fold.

Originally, the deserted Florida island was rather desolate, but they went to work installing cabanas, a bar, and inflatables on the beachfront, attracting hundreds of boats every weekend for classy drinks in the sun.

But the dream has now been lived, and the group fancies cashing in.

Beer Can Island is now on the market

In a press release last year, one owner, Cole Weaver, revealed that the group is willing to part ways with the island, which could become a ‘VIP property’ for anyone who fancies taking it to the next level.

They could even turn it into a private racetrack, now that one private island owner set a cool precedent of installing their own supercharger.

However, this might have recently been reversed, as the group expressed a desire to add a restaurant and began a process of onboarding stakeholders for $1,000 shares to raise the capital.

Either way, this leap of faith has been worth its weight in gold.

While some new islands, like the $280m esports city in Saudi Arabia, cost hundreds of millions, this chic tourist hotspot has been a cheap and efficient investment that has more than reaped the rewards.

So, who has a few dimes spare to pool in for another deserted Florida island?
