Four new features are coming to Google Maps, and they could make things a bit easier when using it.

Google launched its incredibly handy Maps service back in February 2005.

A couple of decades on, and more than one billion people across the globe use it every single month.

Now, the tech giant has announced it is rolling out some new features, and here’s what to expect.

These are the four new features coming to Google Maps

These days, Google Maps faces a bit of competition from the likes of Apple Maps, and the increasingly popular Waze

And in a bid to keep ahead of the pack, the tech giant regularly introduces new features and upgrades.

This month, it has announced four new features.

First off, when searching for the likes of restaurants, hotels, concert venues, and coffee shops, Google Maps will now integrate information from Gemini to provide ‘know before you go’ insider tips.

Gemini will search through reviews and information shared online to offer you some tips on the venue, like how to book a table or advice about parking.

You can even click on the tips to find out more information.

Next up, Google Maps will include a ‘trending’ section on its updated Explore tab.

This means that if you’re somewhere new, or you just have a bit of time to kill, you can simply hit Explore and swipe up to find a list of popular and trending places, activities, or attractions.

Thirdly, Maps is adding EV charger availability predictions to its app.

Currently, Google Maps works alongside charging networks, such as Tesla’s Superchargers, to provide real-time availability data, but in the time it takes you to get the charging station you may find all the chargers are in use.

However, Maps will now start to predict how many chargers will be free on your arrival, by using historical and real-time data.

Finally, it’s also allowing users to use a nickname and profile photo alongside their reviews.

The reviews will still be linked to your account, but if you’d rather not use your real name, that’ll be an option.

When will the new features land?

If you’re keen to try the new features, then you’ll be pleased to know that you don’t have too long to wait.

In fact, the ‘know before you go’ tips have already begun rolling out in the US, and will be followed by the ‘trending’ section later this month.

EV charger availability prediction will start being introduced next week on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in, and profile nicknames are coming later this month.
