The $100k VW Jetta that Frankie Muniz bought from Fast & Furious is one of the most memorable Fast & Furious car purchases of all time, especially for a Volkswagen Jetta with modest performance.
Frankie Muniz made headlines when he paid $100,000 for the car shortly after the film’s release, drawn in by its fame and unique modifications.
The $100k VW Jetta came with a PlayStation, a custom stereo, and a bold visual appearance that made it instantly recognizable to fans.
Even though it lacked serious power under the hood, its status as a Fast & Furious car gave it lasting appeal.

The $100k VW Jetta was used by Jesse in the original movie during a pivotal pink-slip race against Johnny Tran.
Although it looked the part with a wide body kit, racing decals, and flashy wheels, this Fast & Furious car was mostly style over substance.
Its modest specs did not stop it from becoming one of the most recognizable Volkswagen Jetta builds of its time, and the PlayStation setup made it even more distinct.

Frankie Muniz once said he avoided driving the $100k VW Jetta in the rain to protect the stickers, and it even made a cameo in an episode of Lizzie McGuire.
Despite all the attention, the $100k VW Jetta did not hold its value. Frankie Muniz eventually sold it at Barrett-Jackson in 2016, where the Volkswagen Jetta went for just $42,000.
That was less than half of what he originally paid for the Fast & Furious car, even though it had been signed by Paul Walker by then.

The Jetta later returned to market in 2018 with a new asking price close to what Muniz paid initially, showing how much its identity as a Fast & Furious car drives interest.
Even though the $100k VW Jetta was never a performance icon, it lives on through its movie heritage, its connection to Frankie Muniz, and its unique custom features.

As far as Fast & Furious cars go, the Volkswagen Jetta is still one of the most accessible pieces of the franchise’s legacy.
For those who grew up with the films, it represents more than just specs.
It is a snapshot of early 2000s car culture. Frankie Muniz’s $100k VW Jetta remains a standout, not for what it could do on the road, but for what it meant to fans.
