This Georgia barn had collapsed on what appeared to be a Sheriff’s truck, but it was something else entirely.
Backyard Barn Finds took a look at the rural property, which had a barn on the grounds.
The building wasn’t in good shape, and the roof had collapsed on some of the cars sitting inside.
What looked like a Sheriff’s truck had borne most of the damage – but as Backyard Barn Finds discovered, looks can be deceiving.

On the list of things that scream ‘Rural America’, a barn is pretty high.
It’s right up there next to apple pie and corn fields.
But barns are also great places for discovering cars.
Whether it be a 1955 Chevy lurking on a Kansas farm or the first Ford Mustang, these farm buildings are often treasure troves of forgotten vehicles.

And in no case was this better exemplified than Backyard Barn Finds’ visit to a farm in Georgia.
While walking through the grounds, the host was led towards a barn.
Or at least, what was left of a barn.
The building had collapsed in parts, and didn’t look stable at all.
Inside, several cars lay in wait, including a Sheriff’s truck, which had borne the brunt of the caved-in roof.
It was a 1955 GMC truck, bearing a ‘Sheriff Dept.’ logo on the side.
So it’s a fair conclusion to draw that this was a law enforcement truck, right?

Well, that’s not quite the full story.
The owner gave the backstory to the truck.
“It’s a decal…there was a show called In the Heat of the Night with Carroll O’Connor, who played Archie Bunker [From All In The Family],” he explained.
“That decal came from that TV show which was filmed out in Covington, Georgia.”
In the Heat of the Night was a cop show that aired between 1988 and 1995, focusing on a police department in Sparta, Mississippi.

During its seven year run, 147 episodes and four TV movies were produced.
So there you have it, this isn’t a Sheriff’s truck.
It just has a sticker from a show about police stuck on the side of it.
Hopefully, once the barn is put back into proper order, the truck can be restored. But it looks as though it’ll take more than a thorough clean, unlike this iconic pickup.
