If you’re doing a trade up challenge, would you dare to trade the cheapest Tesla in America for a mystery box?

Well, if the mystery box is worth $20,000, that might be worth considering.

Back in 2021, YouTuber Harrison Nevel found himself pulled into a TikTok-fuelled experiment sparked by content creator Isaiah Photo, who was trading everyday items all the way up to a car.

Things quickly escalated out of hand, and the deal began involving cash, sneakers, a very high-mileage electric sedan.

The most epic trade up challenge ever

The challenge began after YouTuber Isaiah Photo went viral for trading items from sand all the way up to a Tesla.

At the time, Isaiah had amassed $20,000 in store credit at Cookies and Kicks, a sneaker shop in Los Angeles.

However, he needed the right person to help turn that value into something bigger.

Enter Harrison Nevel, a well-known sneaker YouTuber, and his friend Hoss, who was more than happy to jump into an impulsive challenge.

Together, Harrison and Hoss hunted down the cheapest Tesla in the United States at the time.

They ended up with a 2013 Tesla Model S 60, with 175,000 miles on the clock.

Listed at $20,000, the car was negotiated down to $19,500 cash, split evenly between the two friends.

Apparently this particular model is really affordable as a used car, since another one surfaced years later at an even cheaper price.

Despite the mileage, the Tesla looked surprisingly clean, drove without issue, and was the perfect trade vehicle for the challenge.

Isaiah flew from Los Angeles to Georgia to see the Tesla in person, officially completing the trade: the car in exchange for a massive $20,000 sneaker mystery box.

But the real drama didn’t end there.

Harrison and Hoss agreed to a risky twist: each sneaker in the box was numbered randomly, and they would take turns selecting numbers without knowing which shoes they were getting.

Needless to say, the unboxing was tense, and the two swung between massive wins and crushing losses.

Rare Jordans, Off-Whites, Yeezys, and hyped collaborations emerged one by one.

In the end, Harrison ultimately coming out ahead financially, while Hoss endured a string of unlucky pulls.

Somehow, this isn’t even the wildest car trade story out there, as a man once traded his fiancée for a McLaren F1.
