The German police have gone viral after utilizing the snowy season to give drivers an important safety lesson.

Using the icy windows of a cop car, the officers drew stick-man drivers in the frost, before sharing their reasons online.

The safety message comes as the Christmas period approaches and cold, wintry weather persists.

After the cops shared their message, motorists reacted, and it seems they received the advice loud and clear.

German police are enforcing road laws in a fun and educational way

Dashing through the snow, in a frosty police car?

Across the pond, as Christmas nears, the weather is getting increasingly colder, and the icy and snowy conditions can have a huge impact on the roads.

Now, to make sure that drivers in the country are clued up on the rules, German police have decided to use their social media accounts to draw attention.

The cops drew stick men in both the driver’s window and the back of the cabin to show how to correctly drive a frosted-over car.

“You don’t want to get in trouble with the police? Just scratch your window open!

“In all fun: Because of not properly ice and snow-free windows, we’re not arresting anyone right away.

“However, a peephole scratched on the windshield is not enough and can have fatal consequences for you and the other road users!” stated polizeiufr.

They went on to explain that you should spend the extra time clearing your car of snow and ice, even when in a rush.

Social media users were amused at the post too, with many stating that it was a genius idea.

“Good idea,” said one user.

“Mega,” commented another.

“Made my day,” added a third.

What does German law really state about driving in ice and snow?

Well, according to Kaiser Slautern, a city initiative, there are strict laws in the country when driving in winter.

The website explains that ‘Peephole’ driving is not allowed, and drivers should ensure that the view from their car is not blocked.

They should check that the side, back, and front windows are snow and ice-free, and if these rules are not followed, a fine could be dished out to the unlucky motorists.

Furthermore, if ice flies off the car and causes an accident, or an incident is caused by the car being covered, it will impact insurance coverage.

So, there you have it.

For those planning on visiting Germany this Christmas, or even in the new year, when ice and snow will still be around, make sure you take extra care when driving.
