- The yacht is over 30 times (!) more expensive than the second most expensive thing sold on eBay
- At 405 feet from bow to stern, this is one of the largest yachts in the world

This ginormous yacht is the most expensive thing ever sold on eBay.
We tend to think of eBay as a place to sell unwanted items, so we can only assume somebody was just tired of owning this 405-foot leviathan and thought “yeah, I’ll just sell it on eBay”.

When the (virtual) gavel dropped, the winning bid was worth $168 million.
As you can imagine, this makes this yacht the most expensive thing sold on eBay by a significant margin.
The second-most-expensive item ever sold on the site was a Gulfstream II luxury plane with space for 12 passengers, which sold for just over $5 million.
Some might say it was worth it, though.
This is because the Frank Mulder-designed Gigayacht (apparently that’s her official name, ‘Giga-Yacht’) comes with all the bells and whistles you expect from a yacht of this caliber.
The luxury yacht comes decked out with its own spa, swimming pool, gym, movie theatre, helicopter pad and then some.
There’s a 3,000 sq. ft. master suite on the main deck, 10 multi-level suites with panoramic windows, eight guest rooms, and a children’s cabin.
It also has two large guest tenders and a ski boat stored in the garage.
A submarine can be launched via a dry dock, too.
In the yacht world, this definitely qualifies as a work of art.
Giga-Yacht has a cruising speed of 16 knots and maximum speed of 20 knots, possible with two 4,300 kW Caterpillar engines.
Interestingly, when it was first listed on eBay, the superyacht had yet to be built and delivery was set for a future date.
The 168-million-dollar question is, who owns the Giga-Yacht?
The identity of the bidder was never disclosed but the owner is believed to be Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich became somewhat famous after acquiring Chelsea Football Club in 2003.
The Russian billionaire has owned a number of yachts through the years.
However, like other Russian oligarchs, he’s still under sanctions so even if he truly is the owner of Giga-Yacht, we’re not sure he still has access to it.
