Onlookers in Australia were shocked to see a mystery billionaire pull up in a superyacht, with a police escort closely in tow.
A photo posted on the GoldCost subreddit showed a glorious sunny day on Australia’s Gold Coast. In the shot was a huge superyacht that was impressive on its own.
However, the person who posted the photo suggested that the yacht had come in with a police escort and wondered why on earth it needed one.
A few other users then waded in on Reddit, as speculation about the identity of the superyacht’s owner ran rife.

What the Reddit user said they had seen
The poster, Powerful-Yoghurt-450, said they were stunned by the sight of the luxury superyacht.
They said they had ‘never seen anything of this size’ prior to the superyacht appearing in the port.
A yacht that size is an uncommon sight at the harbor.
The Reddit user questioned who the yacht belonged to and why it had come into the harbor with a police escort.

A police escort suggests the wealth of the owner is quite high.
For a standard boat arriving on the Gold Coast, you certainly wouldn’t expect the police to follow it in.
Those on the SubReddit were not impressed, however.
One said, “Police supplying marine escorts for the rich. Meanwhile, they can’t turn up to a break and enter in a decent timeframe.”
Who did the superyacht belong to?
The biggest question was who the superyacht belonged to.
A wide array of suggestions has been thrown around.
Some said it could have belonged to Russian oligarchs looking to dock their luxury vessel.
Others said it could belong to the famous American actor Mark Wahlberg.
However, the most popular choice was Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel.
As a billionaire, it would not be a surprise for him to own a luxury yacht.
His wife, model Miranda Kerr, was also suggested as a possible reason for the trip, as she grew up in Australia.
Despite the odd ill-feeling, many users were impressed by the size of the vessel.
Yachts this size on the Gold Coast are very rare.
Seeing one come in with a full police escort made the occasion even more interesting.
