The UK’s Goodwood festival is the ultimate weekend for car fans, and 2026 may be the best and biggest that we’ll ever see.

To celebrate one of the most iconic wins of an iconic race, this year is set to see the return of the 1966 victors.

The three Ford GT MK IIs are set to appear together for the first time in 10 years, but the car-themed fun doesn’t stop there.

Shelby American is also set to honor Caroll Shelby’s memory in a touching set of events.

1966 is the new 2026, thanks to Goodwood

As far as car history goes, 1966 was a legendary year, not just for Le Mans 24 Hours, but for Ford, and it was all down to the Ford FT Mk II.

Three of the vehicles managed to achieve a historic 1-2-3 finish, and were driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, and Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson.

Now, the three cars are set to run and appear together for the first time in a decade.

“I am absolutely delighted that the historic 1-2-3 Ford GT Mk IIs will be reunited at Goodwood this year.

“The legendary result of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans is immortalized in motorsport history, and it will be incredibly special to see these three cars run together once again,” The Duke of Richmond CBE DL, manager of the Goodwood site, said.

There’s more than one chance to see them

The cars that go by the chassis numbers of P/1046, P/1016, and P/1015 will be available to view on the Goodwood Hill under the theme of ‘The Rivals-Epic Racing Duels’ at the Festival of Speed, but that’s not all.

At Goodwood Revival Festival in September 2026, they will even run on the Motor Circuit, giving fans a chance to see the winning autos back in action.

But what is it all in aid of, you ask?

Well, you see, 2026 actually marks the 60th anniversary of the contest between Ford, Shelby American, and Ferrari.

Thanks to this, Shelby American is also set to play a key part in the festival, with Team Shelby presenting a group at the celebration.

Plus, Arron Shelby, grandson of Caroll will also present the ‘Carroll Shelby Spirit Award’ to The Duke of Richmond for his contributions to the auto industry.

“The epic struggle of Ford and Shelby against Ferrari played out at tracks around the globe, culminating at Le Mans in 1966.

“That incredible race, which continues to resonate with motorsports fans worldwide, shaped Shelby American’s destiny for the next 60 years,” Aaron Shelby said.

So, mark your calendars for the 2026 dates with the Festival Speed occurring from July 9 to 12, and Good Revival happening from September 18 to 20.
