Google Maps has long been a favorite for navigation and local recommendations, but it also quietly became a go-to tool for checking gas prices.

For many Android users, the convenience of viewing nearby stations and comparing prices directly on the map made it the ideal all-in-one solution.

However, in recent days, users have noticed that this feature has suddenly vanished from the Android app.

The unexpected disappearance has left many scratching their heads and turning to online forums for answers.

Only affecting Android users

The feature, which previously showed gas prices when users typed ‘gas’ into the search bar, now seems to have disappeared on certain Android devices.

Instead of a detailed list of nearby stations with current fuel costs, users are seeing only location markers without any pricing information.

Oddly, this glitch doesn’t affect iPhones or desktop browsers, where gas prices still appear as expected.

According to users on Reddit and other platforms, this inconsistency began after the latest Google Maps update rolled out to Android devices.

While some feared the feature had been intentionally removed, the issue appears to be a bug on Google’s end.

Because gas price data is delivered via Google’s servers, the installed app version should not impact its availability.

In fact, several Android users who refrained from updating still lost access to the data, which confirms it’s not a client-side problem.

In the meantime, iPhone users continue to enjoy uninterrupted access to gas prices in Google Maps, and PC users can still view prices via a browser.

Alternative apps like Waze remain viable options for those in need of real-time gas cost information, and certainly makes Waze a stronger contender against Google Maps as a navigation app.

At the time of writing, the functionality has returned for some users, but others report that it’s still down for them.

Google hasn’t announced any official information regarding the problem.

This isn’t the only problem plaguing Google Maps

This isn’t the only issue that you may face while using Google Maps either.

While it’s mostly accurate, it can sometimes mess up.

Just ask this woman in Ireland, who trusted Google Maps to bring her to a grocery store, but ended up on a TV show set instead.

To make matters worse, this isn’t the only issue currently affecting Google Maps.

Another widespread bug impacting CarPlay prevents the app from recalculating routes after missed turns, forcing drivers to stop and manually restart navigation.

While these glitches may be temporary, they’re adding frustration to users who depend on Google Maps daily.

Until updates are issued, Android users may have to rely on other platforms to fill in the gaps.
