When you think of police force cars, you generally think fast and aggressive.
They generally tend to be big, brash and fast in order to catch all kinds of criminals.
The Greek police force, however, has taken a very different approach.
Because it has decided to add a fleet of Fiat 500e cars to the police force.

For those who don’t know, Athens isn’t your typical modern city.
In fact, it is a very old, narrow, cobbled-street type of city.
Such an environment requires a different kind of approach for the police.
Vehicles such as motorcycles and small cars are often the necessary approach.
And this is exactly what has happened in Athens.
The force was recently gifted 10 Fiat 500e cars by DEI (Public Electric Power Corporation).

Aside from the generous donation, DEI also donated 36 charging stations to the police.
It is actually a very thoughtful and practical gift, as it makes running an EV-fleet more feasible.
The new fleet of cars now sport the Greek police livery of blue and white.
These cars come with an additional rear-hinged door on the passenger side.
This is a feature that should come in useful for transporting the suspects.
That is if they can actually fit in to the small car, of course.
It wouldn’t be a police car without the complete set of strobe lights on the roof.
These Fiat 500e cars come with the standard electric motor, producing 117bhp.
This allows for a 0-60 sprint time of around nine seconds.

The battery pack of the Fiat 500e provides an urban range of around 162 miles.
It should be more than enough for patrolling Greece’s capital.
And we should also consider the abundance of chargers that were donated as well.
Surprisingly, these new 500e cars are not the slowest vehicles in the fleet.
That honor goes to the Citroen Ami, a quadricycle that has been used in Chalki Island since 2021.
This approach has been taken by Greek Police as part of a sustainable mobility initiative.
