This is the Gulfstream G450 private jet. which you easily can get your hands on if you’ve got $40 million burning a hole in your pocket.

The G450 is arguably one of the most popular private jets ever, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s like a mansion in the sky.

But the running costs will make your jaw drop.

The Gulfstream G450 is like a mansion for the skies

In their latest videos, the guys behind the JetBay YouTube channel gave us a tour inside a Gulfstream G450.

This is a pretty big plane.

We’re talking about a 14-passenger, or 16, in some cases, aircraft with three separate lounge areas and about 4,300 nautical miles of range, which is enough to fly from London to NYC.

Like all private jets, the G450 is fully customizable.

The fact that you have three separate lounge areas means you can have three ‘sections’ on the plane.

Ordinarily, most people use one as a bedroom, one as office space, and the third as a living area.

But you can have whatever you want.

In theory, nothing says you can’t have three living areas and no bedroom, for instance.

Arguably, the most popular private jet family in the world

With exceptions, like John Travolta and Drake with their Boeing jets, the vast majority of celebrities out there use Gulfstream jets from the G-family.

Jeff Bezos, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Michael Jordan all use Gulfstream G650 jets.

Ronaldo actually used to own a G200, which he replaced with the much larger – and more expensive – G650.

Paris Hilton has a G450, and the list goes on.

It varies a lot, but broadly speaking, you need at least a nine-figure net worth to buy a private jet in general, and a 10-figure net worth to buy one of these larger Gulfstream jets.

The outright ticket price is a factor, but maintenance and running costs are the true deal-breaker.

If you own a Gulfstream G650, for example, you need seven figures a year just to keep the plane airworthy and usable.

And that’s assuming you cover zero miles with it, which is obviously never the case.

The actual operating cost amounts to anywhere between $5,000 and $10,000 per hour.

So if you buy a plane and actually use it, say, two or three times a month, you’re looking at a six or seven-figure tab… every month.

That’s a very expensive way to get around. But then again, it’s also super cool.
