A couple of guys in Kentucky used a cheap excavator they bought from Temu to create a makeshift storm shelter from a Nissan Quest.
The guys shared their creations on TikTok, and the videos have been viewed over 1.9 million times since the start of April.
Ryan Hagan and Buddy Rolley built the makeshift shelter from an old minivan before their cousin Erika Cobb posted the videos onto her TikTok account.
As you would expect, the comments were full of praise for their ingenuity, even if it did look sketchy being inside a minivan under three feet of dirt and mud.

The trio buried the minivan under the mud
With storms a heavy possibility in Kentucky, the family decided the best thing to do was to create their own makeshift shelter with the digger.
Cobb’s uncle owned a salvage lot.
That meant plenty of vehicles to choose from, including this 2000 Nissan Quest.
Once plucked from the yard, the family plopped it into the ground and then began digging around it to buy it.

Despite it coming from a salvage yard, the Nissan Quest still ran.
This meant they could tune into the radio for storm warnings as they buried it.
To bury the minivan, the family chose a cheap excavator that they had bought from Temu.
The Temu excavator cost less than $10k
According to the ad, the excavator costs around $6,000 and has a 13.5hp engine powering it.
For just $6,000, it was worth a go, and it’s likely found plenty of other uses at the family home.
The digger appears to handle the task perfectly well.
However, some cheap Chinese diggers and vehicles can come with various issues.
This one appears to be one of the Temu models that doesn’t struggle with burying an old Nissan minivan.

Making the operation even more bizarre were the interior views of the minivan after its burial.
The windows being completely covered in dirt freaked us out a bit.
While it has yet to be put to the test, the weight of the dirt should be enough to keep the minivan underground and out of danger from a storm.
You have to commend the effort the family went to in building their DIY Nissan storm shelter.
