It’s that time of year again, as Christmas approaches, it gets snowier and icier, but fear not, as there are some funky snow plows on the US roads.

Drawing inspiration from all walks of life, from TV shows to music artists, when naming the machines that keep the US safe, people have been getting creative.

In some states, local councils even run naming competitions where residents can get involved.

Now, though, we’ve rounded up some of the best from across the country, so you can sit back and get ready to be entertained.

Snow plows are keeping the roads safe this winter in a fun way

We get it, venturing out into the cold and snow can be a task and a half, but thanks to snow plows, driving is being made safer than ever before on icy mornings.

But the machines making this happen don’t just have generic engineering names.

Instead, many have pun-tastic monikers that are spreading winter joy with every inch of snow that they clear.

The tradition has been picked up by many states across the country, with many running naming competitions online, so let’s get this snow on the road.

In Minnesota, previous winners have included I Came, I Thaw, I Conquered, We’re Off To See The Blizzard, Fast and Flurrious, and even Sleetwood Mac.

But, all over the US, people have been getting involved, with Massachusetts naming their Flower Plower, Edward Blizzardhands, Glacier Gobbler, and Polar Pathmaker, amongst other amusing titles.

We get what you’re thinking, now they’re just snowing off.

Other favorites from across the country include Melton John, No More Mr. Ice Guy, and Don’t Flurry Be Happy.

The tradition isn’t US-exclusive either

Across the pond, Scotland has also joined in the snowplow action, due to their extreme winter weather creating havoc on the roads.

More commonly known as ‘gritters’, the machines have picked up names including Icetalavista Baby, Licence To Chill, I Want To Break Freeze, and Scoopy Do, and they are even available to track online via an interactive map.

Anyhow, some competitions are closing this week, so check your local area to see if you can still get in on the action and name your very own snow plow.
