This guy went viral after posting a video of his 12-year-old Honda CR-V on TikTok.

Despite making six figures each year, he refuses to buy a new car.

The reason behind this strategy is quite clever.

And – as you can imagine – it has to do with money.

Why he doesn’t want to change his Honda CR-V

Michael Rusli, a real estate broker in Australia, went viral after posting a video in which he was seen washing his 12-year-old Honda CR-V on TikTok.

Michael said he earns at least six figures every year, but still refuses to get a new car.

The reason is simple.

His Honda CR-V is reliable, it doesn’t really need a lot in terms of maintenance, it’s cheap enough to run and, more to the point, is it fully paid for.

If he bought a new car, he could buy it outright, which would represent a significant investment, or he’d need at least a few hundred dollars every month for the lease.

In his opinion, that money would be best spent on something else.

Rich people are often frugal

Michael certainly seems to have taken a leaf out of Warren Buffett’s book.

Despite being one of the richest men in the world, richer than some royal in fact, Buffett still drives a Cadillac that’s over 10 years old.

It was even involved in an accident at some point, but Buffett said he didn’t even care about having it fixed.

Several extremely wealth people have similar habits.

Bill Gates used to be like that, but his strategy has changed a bit in recent times.

After placing an order for an incredibly expensive yacht, the former CEO of Microsoft ended up buying a Porsche 959, which is definitely not a cheap car.
