A man from Kansas accidentally bought the most annoying Dodge Viper in America, all because he didn’t know what he was getting into.

The car is a third-generation 2004 Dodge Viper, and he said he got a pretty sweet deal on it.

But he never got a chance to take a test drive until it was finally at his doorstep.

Little did he know he would instantly regret his purchase.

Man ended up with the most annoying Dodge Viper in America

Kansas-based Tyler Hoover from the YouTube channel Hoovies Garage bought a third-gen Dodge Viper for a reasonable price as far as used Vipers go.

However, it was hiding a truckload of issues underneath that pretty face.

The exterior and the interior were in almost excellent condition, and it was listed as a good-condition car.

That was the only good part, though.

In a video from a year ago, Tyler explained how his purchase was the most annoying Dodge Viper in America.

You see, its previous owner wasn’t all that keen on maintaining it, and the muscle car was practically in shambles.

The driving experience was nowhere near good — it felt unstable, the engine seemed like it was misfiring, and, worst of all, it sounded like a diesel tractor.

Moreover, the last owner had heavily modified the Viper, and it had a straight-pipe exhaust with a cat delete – meaning the vehicle’s emission control device had been removed.

That translates to a super-loud and annoying exhaust sound, and removing the catalytic converter only worsened it.

“It’s supposed to be the more refined, nice Viper,” Tyler repeatedly said throughout the video.

Everyone has a different experience of owning a Viper, as another 2016 Viper ACR owner explained.

This one was something else, though.

The repairs were brutal for his wallet

As unfortunate as Tyler’s purchase was, it wasn’t his first time ending up with a rough-condition car.

Since he buys and fixes old cars, he once traded a perfectly fine Countach for a broken Bugatti Veyron.

Anyway, the YouTuber then visited a mechanic friend to get a quotation on how much it would take to bring it back to normal.

There was more bad news.

The mechanic — another YouTuber called The Car Wizard — revealed that all of its shockers were busted, and replacing them would cost a fortune.

The previous owner had also heavily tuned it, and the 8.3-liter V10 engine under the hood made much more than the rated 500 horsepower.

Bringing it back to a respectable condition would require a couple of thousand dollars — and that’s with used parts.

The mechanic knew what he was doing, and he’s the same person who gave up on Tyler’s Maserati Ghibli after three failed engines and $20,000.

In the end, this 2004 Dodge Viper got a second chance at life, no matter how expensive it turned out to be.
