Huawei has opened the world’s first 100 megawatt charging station, which can charge a Tesla in just two minutes.
The Chinese tech giant has made Tesla’s charging facilities look slow and sloppy by comparison.
Based in Beichuan in the Sichuan Province, this station is designed specifically for electric heavy-duty trucks and services up to 700 vehicles a day.
This is beyond an innovation – it’s a revolution in the world of EVs.

Huawei has opened up a 100 megawatt charging station
This 100 megawatt charging station in Beichuan, Sichuan Province, is a powerhouse in every sense of the word.
With 700 vehicles passing through each day, the EVs in the region are getting good use out of it.
Spread out over 11.5 acres and developed by Sichuan Yuanqi Xingguang Digital Energy Technology, this hub represents a $21 million investment in electric technology.

18 ultra-high-capacity chargers are spread out over the facility, each one capable of 1.44MW each.
In addition to that, there are 108 bays which each offer 600kW of power.
All of this to say, it’s a really, really big deal.
What else would you expect from the world’s fastest and most powerful EV charging hub?
By way of comparison, Tesla’s latest Supercharger V4 tops out at 350 kW – that’s four times less than Huawei’s most powerful offering.

This is another notch in China’s belt when it comes to EVs
As EVs grow in popularity, more and more companies are jumping onto the bandwagon.
And nowhere is that more apparent than in China, where companies are jumping leaps and bounds with the technology.
Companies like BYD have become overnight successes, outselling Tesla in European markets and producing the world’s fastest EV.

One thing has been made crystal clear – Western companies like Tesla can no longer rest on their laurels.
Chinese EVs are making quite the splash, and if the Huawei charging station is anything to go by, the charging stations are racing ahead, too.
There’s nothing wrong with a healthy bit of competition, is there?
But the Western companies are going to have to up their game if they want to stay in the race.
