Hundreds of muscle car collectors come together to support bullied car-loving Alabama boy

Hundreds of car collectors gathered together in Alabama to show their support for a 10-year-old car-lover after he was badly bullied. 

Hunter Blankenship, from Clanton, was left devastated after being picked on for his rainbow-colored glasses. 

The bullying got so bad, that the youngster, who has autism, needed to be sent for psychiatric treatment.

After spending two weeks receiving psychiatric treatment – his mom wanted to do something nice for her son and the local car community really stepped up.

The youngster was left heartbroken by bullies

Car loving Hunter chose a pair of rainbow-colored glasses because he liked how they looked. 

But he was left ‘hating’ the colorful choice after an older child started bullying him.

After his run-in with the bully, Hunter became so upset that he spent two weeks on the psychiatric floor at the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in Birmingham, CBS News reported. 

His mom Meghan Fancher was left heartbroken after seeing how badly impacted her young son was and was determined to do something nice for him when he got out of hospital.

So, she took to social media to send out a request for a ‘few people’ to bring out their cars and trucks for Hunter to see. 

“To see if I could get four or five cars to just come down the driveway when he comes home,” Fancher told CBS News. 

“That would have been more than enough for him.”

However, they ended up with more than that. A lot more.

Hundreds of car collectors turned out for Hunter

Shortly after it was posted, local restaurant owner Sergio Sanchez saw the original post and decided to put the word out to several car collectors’ clubs across Alabama.

And the result? Around 1,500 cars owners turned out to show Hunter their support. 

“Cars all the way from north Alabama to south Alabama,” Sanchez told the news outlet. 

“They literally had to shut down downtown.”

As you can imagine, Hunter was absolutely blown away after meeting so many new friends – and some seriously cool cars. 

Many of those who headed down to show their support donned similar rainbow-colored glasses and Hunter is now more than happy to wear his favorite colorful frames once again. 

How wonderful is that?
