Hyundai sales hit an all-time high in September, marking a milestone month for the Korean automaker in the United States.

The company reported over 71,000 vehicles sold – its best-ever September performance.

This achievement not only represents a 14 percent jump compared to the same month last year but also caps Hyundai’s strongest third quarter in US history.

The results showcase the strength of Hyundai’s product lineup and the surging demand for its electrified vehicles.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a standout

In total, Hyundai sold 239,069 cars during Q3, reflecting a 13 percent overall increase and an 11 percent bump in retail sales.

Electric and hybrid vehicles continue to gain ground, making up 38 percent of their retail mix.

Standout performers included the Santa Fe, which climbed 45 percent year-over-year, and the Elantra Hybrid, which surged by an impressive 89 percent.

The latter’s strong sales figures make sense, given that a study revealed that it’s one of the cars with the cheapest operating costs in the US.

The Ioniq 5, the automaker’s flagship EV, posted a massive 151 percent gain, achieving its best-ever sales month in the US.

Randy Parker, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, credited the results to the company’s breadth of offerings and dealer network.

“September marked our strongest third quarter on record, fueled by a diverse product lineup, outstanding dealer support, and robust consumer demand,” Parker said in a statement.

Quickly becoming one of the most competitive carmakers

Not every model shared in the success.

The Sonata sedan experienced a 33 percent decline, while the Kona compact SUV fell 21 percent.

The Santa Cruz pickup dropped 16 percent, and the outgoing Palisade saw a 17 percent dip in sales as anticipation builds for the next-generation model.

Still, the overall trajectory for Hyundai sales remains firmly upward.

With record-breaking September results and a clear strategy for growth, the brand is cementing its place as one of the most competitive automakers in the US market.

In fact, the carmaker has ambitious plans to take on the popular Toyota Tacoma, with its very own mid-sized truck that is yet to be named.
