He fought the law and the law won – that’s what happened to this Hyundai Palisade driver when he tried reclaiming his vehicle from a tow truck.

Nobody likes the idea of their car being towed; that’s a given.

But it’s never a good idea to try to remove the vehicle yourself as it’s being towed.

That’s what this guy had to learn the hard way – and it’s a lesson he’s not going to forget in a hurry.

The unfortunate story of a man, his Hyundai Palisade, and a tow truck

Footage of this altercation was shared on Reddit, where it quickly gained a lot of circulation.

Because if there’s one thing the internet loves, it’s something going hilariously wrong.

A tow truck driver had hooked up a Hyundai Palisade to his vehicle, after it had been parked somewhere it shouldn’t have been.

The owner could then be seen clambering inside his SUV and putting it into reverse.

If this had occurred in a movie, this might have been the moment where he made a clean getaway.

But this was real life, so things didn’t pan out that way.

Instead, the SUV began to tip to the side after the driver’s side tire caught on the tow truck’s hook.

The car then toppled onto its side.

Subsequently, the police were called, and they told the Palisade that what he did was illegal.

It’s not entirely clear what the ultimate outcome of this would be, but here’s the kicker – it was all totally avoidable.

You see, this wasn’t a repossession – it was a parking violation.

That means the owner could have negotiated a drop fee – or alternatively, gone down to the impound yard to retrieve the vehicle legally.

It just goes to show that rash decisions can prove to be costly.

When things go wrong with cars, they can go wrong in a big way

At the end of the day, cars are machines – no matter how sentimental we can get about them.

So they’re prone to breaking, accidents, and a whole host of complications.

As this Hyundai Palisade story demonstrated, human error certainly plays a part.

Richard Hammond learned that for himself when he accidentally destroyed a $280,000 McLaren 720S.

But not all car mishaps have unhappy endings.

One woman had her foot run over by Oprah’s driver – but it turned into a photo opportunity and a happy accident.
