A bright yellow semi-truck that spent almost three decades sitting on top of a billboard in Waco, Texas, has been removed, but it’s not the end of the line for the truck.
If you have ever driven along I-35, there’s a good chance you’ve spotted the yellow truck perched on top of the billboard.
For the past 27 years, the semi-truck has become an unusual landmark in the area.
But now, it’s been removed and is headed for a new home.

The yellow semi-truck was used to grab attention for a local business
The yellow semi-truck was placed on top of the billboard by a man called David Suggs way back in 1997.
Suggs, who has since sadly passed away, wanted to create a bit of a talking point to attract attention to his business, Central Texas Frame and Alignment.

Suggs’ daughter Gabriella Mocuta told KWTX News 10 that her dad’s wacky idea had paid off.
“Customers talk to us about it all the time… People will just pull off the highway to ask us about it and to take pictures,” she said.
Even after Central Texas Frame and Alignment underwent a rebranding, the yellow semi-truck stayed in place.
However, after almost 30 years, the semi-truck has now been carefully removed from the billboard, but it’s not the last we’ll see of it.
Mocuta explained that the business had been operating from two separate locations, but the decision had been made to merge them.

So, the truck is now set to move to its new location, and it’s a bittersweet moment for Mocuta.
“It’s been a little bit of a hard day seeing it come down,” she told the outlet.
“It’s definitely been a statement piece and is something that is a part of him to us, but we are grateful we are able to take it with us.”
It’s not the only business to use a real vehicle for an eye-catching display
This isn’t the first time a business has used a real vehicle as a smart advertising tool.
A Malaysian car dealership in Larkon, Johor, had a Mark IV Toyota Supra on its roof for 20 years before removing it last year.

The bright green car was placed on the roof to help ensure folks wouldn’t struggle to find the dealership’s location.
But after two decades, Mutiara Motors removed the Supra and shared footage online showing the toll the years spent on the roof in the hot sun had taken on the car.
