This man from Illinois has the ultimate dream of performing every gearhead’s favorite trick, a wheelie in a McLaren.

However, to perform a trick like this in a car that’s meant solely for tearing up the open road requires precision and power control.

Luckily enough, though, the car fan has experience in modifying cars and enabling them to skid off into the sunset with power behind them.

And now, his attention is on making his McLaren safe and powerful enough to lift off the ground.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a McLaren doing a wheelie

Every gearhead’s dream is to perform tricks in their cars; however, to do this requires skill, care, and safety measures.

But one guy has one huge dream to make a supercar do a wheelie.

But it wasn’t any supercar; it was a McLaren.

Cars that McLaren produces are known to tear up the track, but for the supercars to be able to perform tricks on command is less common, but still a possibility.

Ivan Phipps from Cannonball Garage explained his dream to the YouTube channel VINwiki, and it was clear to see that the gearhead knew his stuff.

“When I’m asked, what is my goal? My goal is a wheelie.

“I want to do a wheelie in a McLaren,” he explained.

But, it turns out that this isn’t his first rodeo, as he believed that he did the first wheelie in a Nissan GTR.

He explained that he launched the Nissan, and it felt like it lifted – and it was all down to him modifying the car with a new suspension.

He managed to get the first picture of an all-wheel drive doing a wheelie, which is no mean feat.

“In an all-wheel drive, to do a wheelie was awesome,” he said.

The supercar will be put to the ultimate test

Now, a Nissan is obviously different from a McLaren, and it will require more power than comes as standard to achieve his wheelie dream.

“To do a wheelie, you actually want the front suspension to droop more; you want the weight to come off the front as slowly as possible,” he continued.

The car also has an open differential, which could pose a challenge. To rise above this, he aims to add an LSD to make sure that the tires have equal grip.

He explained that you also need to be cautious, as when the wheels are off the ground, sometimes you can’t actually see.

The car can also go crooked, so it requires skill and care to be safe, yet pull the trick off successfully, so lifting the car is recommended.

“Definitely keep your hands straight,” he said.

So, it’s all eyes on the McLaren and Ivan as the wheelie is hotly anticipated.
