The Indian businessman who built a $20 million White House replica might never get to live in it.
Vijay Mallya is the man behind this remarkable home.
As if being a replica of one of the most famous buildings in the world wasn’t notable enough, it also sits on top of a skyscraper, 400 feet above the streets of Bengaluru.
But it hasn’t been lived in for nearly a decade, and may never be a home.

This White House replica is truly extraordinary – but it’s not going to be lived in anytime soon
When it came to building this imitation White House, Mallya spared no expense.
Spanning out at 40,000 square feet, fitted with a rooftop helipad, an infinity pool, and a lush garden, this thing may well put the real deal to shame.
Plus, it has views that the real White House can’t compete with, given that it’s at the top of a skyscraper.

The ‘White House in the Sky’ began construction back in the early 2010s, built on top of the Kingfisher Towers.
By 2016, it was nearing completion.
However, disaster struck for Mallya as his financial empire began falling apart.
With an alleged $1 billion owed in loans and the Indian authorities accusing him of fraud and money laundering, he left for the UK, claiming he was being unfairly targeted.

The courts in India didn’t see it that way, and his assets were frozen.
As such, his White House remains incomplete – and nobody has stepped up in a decade to finish the job.
Mallya is still tied up in legal troubles, with the Bombay High Court ruling last month that it would not hear his challenge to the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act until he submitted himself to the authorities, The Federal reported.

Around the world, there are amazing houses that beggar belief
It’s a real shame this White House replica won’t be lived in any time soon.
And unlike the one sitting in Washington DC, you wouldn’t have to win an election to stay there.
There’s no shortage of remarkable homes around the world.

Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie herself, owned an extremely nice villa until it was sold for a record price.
Then there are the celebrity homes that we all secretly long for, like this one owned by Lily Allen and David Harbour.
And let’s not forget the incredible property that belonged to one Sean Connery.
But at the end of the day, home is where the heart is.
And that applies whether you’re on a normal suburban street or towering 400 feet over an Indian city in a White House replica.
