A car enthusiast from Indiana who flew out to the Netherlands to buy an F1 car has revealed his plans for the new purchase.

YouTuber and car lover WhistlinDiesel bought the 2009 Toro Rosso STR4 from GPCars4Sale in Holland.

The car was driven by Sebastien Buemi in the 2009 F1 season and had taken part in several Grand Prix.

The former F1 car was sold without its engine, which gave WhistlinDiesel an idea for a ‘world-first’.

The F1 car is headed to the US after being sold

Plenty of us grew up dreaming of one day owning our very own F1 car, but far fewer of us will ever be able to make that a reality.

However, that’s exactly what WhistlinDiesel recently did.

After deciding he wanted his own F1 vehicle, he had a look online and ended up finding a 2009 Toro Rosso STR4 for sale at GPCars4Sale in the Netherlands.

So, he bought it, flew out and collected the vehicle making his boyhood dream come true.

And it’s fair to say the vehicle didn’t disappoint.

WhistlinDiesel appeared to be in complete awe of the carbon fiber construction of the car.

The seller revealed that the car’s livery was hand-painted and pointed out the driver’s nameplate concealed inside the vehicle.

Pretty cool, right?

It’s new owner is considering making it a ‘world first’ vehicle

While the car is a real gem, it was missing one vital component: it’s engine.

Engines from F1 cars are usually kept by the team or the engine manufacturer at the end of a season, which is likely the case here.

However, WhistlinDiesel was more than happy with the arrangement.

Of course, he was keen to get the car back up and running as soon as possible, so he asked his 9.47 million followers to suggest recommendations for a new powerplant.

But then revealed that he was considering a ‘world’s first’ for the car.

“I’m not going to say my idea, but I think we might have the world’s first diesel F1 car,” he shared.

Whether he follows through with that plan remains to be seen, but it could be a pretty interesting project and will defintely be one to watch.
