Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson decided that being a rockstar wasn’t enough, so tried his hand at flying an Airbus A320.

Cast your mind back to 2005, and you may recall that Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickinson appeared in a documentary series for the Discovery Channel.

In the series, he took on flying a number of different planes.

One such aircraft was the Airbus A320, and he took to it with great enthusiasm.

Bruce Dickinson takes to the air in an Airbus A320

Back in 2005, Bruce Dickinson headed up a five-part documentary series for the Discovery Channel called Flying Heavy Metal.

In the series, he looked at various planes from the Boeing 707 to the Concorde and the Boeing 787.

But one was particularly thrilling for Dickinson, who learned to fly recreationally back in the 1990s.

That would be the Airbus A320.

The best thing about the A320 is how it’s designed to protect itself, minimizing the damage that could be caused by human error.

Dickinson, flying up front with a pilot, likened the A320’s controls to a video game.

When testing out the A320’s limits, he turned the aircraft to a 67 degree angle, at which point the flight-control computers intervened.

The plane was automatically returned to wings-level altitude.

Although he still declared himself a ‘Boeing man’, Dickinson tipped his hat to the A320.

“There’s only one way to describe that flight,” Dickinson declared.

“That was absolutely f**king awesome!”

Don’t sit on the fence, Bruce – say how you really felt.

Other famous faces who have taken to flying

The most famous celebrity pilot of all has to be John Travolta.

With an impressive plane collection at his disposal and a private runway, he’s spoilt for choice when it comes to jet-setting adventures.

Travolta’s recent collection is not enough to express his love for the private jets.

His past acquisitions included iconic planes like a Lockheed Constellation, a Boeing 707-138B, and a DC-3 Dakota.

If he wants to go to Australia, he can do so – with ease.

With so many iconic planes, his collection could even rival Jeff Bezos’ extravagant jet hangar.
