Jackie Chan owns a private jet for regional trips, and a larger one for transcontinental trips from Asia to the US.

This is hardly surprising considering his net worth and the fact that he works both in China and in Hollywood, but what’s truly amazing is the livery of the first jet.

Acquired in 2012, the jet was built by Embraer specifically for the global action icon.

And, well, you can tell it was designed for him.

Why Jackie Chan owns two aircraft from the same company

Jackie Chan is a global icon but he spends most of his time either in Hong Kong and China, or in the US.

Apparently, this binary recurring distinction between his work in his native Hong Kong (and China) and his appearances in Hollywood blockbusters created a logistical problem that he decided to fix by buying two very similar Embraer jets.

In 2012, Jackie Chan bought an Embraer Legacy 650, which is a large, long-haul private aircraft fully capable of handling intercontinental flights to Europe and Hollywood.

In 2016, he expanded his fleet by taking delivery of another Embraer.

This time, he bought a Legacy 500, and he’s actually been a brand ambassador for Embraer since.

The smaller, fly-by-wire Legacy 500 handles regional trips across Asia, while the larger Legacy 650 takes him to Hollywood.

But the size isn’t the only thing that sets these planes apart.

How his Embraer 650 private jet became so recognizable

His smaller jet, the 500, is relatively understated.

It looks like any other private jet with a simple livery.

By contrast, the larger 650 features a custom paint job with red and yellow painted dragons sweeping along both sides of the fuselage.

The vertical stabilizer proudly displays his personal emblem alongside Chinese characters representing his name, while the tail registration – N688JC – subtly weaves in his initials and lucky numbers.

You definitely can’t miss it.

How the action star turned cinematic acrobatics into a massive global fortune

Like many iconic action stars, Jackie Chan is a formally trained martial artist.

Beyond his early schooling at the China Drama Academy, Chan earned a legitimate black belt in Hapkido – a Korean martial art – under Grandmaster Jin Pal Kim.

Throughout his career, he also integrated techniques from Kung Fu, Karate, Jeet Kune Do, and other martial arts.

Chan famously performs most of his own highly dangerous stunts, and sadly for him, he has several medical charts (and broken bones) to prove it.

Over a career spanning six decades, he has proven to be an extraordinarily prolific actor, starring in over 150 movies across English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, which is his native language.

His global box-office success transformed him into a brand powerhouse.

Today, his net worth is estimated at around $400 million.

That wealth explains how he could easily afford his famous $30 million dragon-liveried Embraer Legacy 650 executive jet, as well as his second jet, the $20 million Embraer Legacy 500.
