Buying a Lexus in Japan is more like a ritual than a car purchase with the car revealed like a masterpiece

In Japan, the delivery day after buying a Lexus isn’t just a transaction – it’s a ceremony.

Complete with music swelling and a building of anticipation worthy of the big screen.

A car isn’t just handed over; it’s revealed like art under a silk shroud.

And when the sheet finally drops, applause breaks out.

The Lexus handover that feels more like theater than a dealership

This clip, posted to Instagram by Wealth, shows just how serious Lexus Japan takes delivery day

The buyer stands in front of his new car, still hidden under a sheet, while staff members line up around it.

They bow to him first, then the speakers kick in with music fit for a Hollywood film score.

As it crescendos, the cover is ripped back.

The Lexus sits under the lights, spotless and gleaming, and the room breaks into applause.

It’s so perfectly timed it feels rehearsed – and probably is.

Compare that to most dealers, where you get a quick handshake, a folder of paperwork, and a ‘see you later.’

Here, the whole thing is elevated into something much more memorable.

Naturally, the internet had plenty to say.

“Dang! I didn’t even get a bow on my new Lexus when I bought it!” commented one person.

Others were blown away, pointing out the level of respect baked into the ritual.

But not everyone’s a fan of the theatrics.

“Just gimme the keys bro,” someone joked, while another confessed they asked their dealer to skip the unveiling entirely.

For them, the pomp wasn’t worth the pause.

Whether you see it as a bit over the top or a pretty great flex, it’s definitely a story to tell for years to come.

The magic of delivery day

For car lovers, delivery isn’t just the start of ownership – that handover moment is often as unforgettable as the car itself.

Take this retro delivery footage still going viral of a businessman taking delivery of a McLaren F1 in the ’90s. You can feel the significance through the screen.

Back then, it was just a camcorder tape of a new car day.

Now it’s a piece of supercar history, and that same F1 is worth more than $27 million.

Supercar Blondie had her own unforgettable handover when she was surprised with a one-of-one Brabus G-Wagen, complete with a Tiffany blue interior.

Lexus might not be handing over multi-million-dollar hypercars, but their ceremony proves the delivery day still matters.

What do you think – would you want the full Lexus ceremony, or would you rather just grab the keys and roll?
