Few people in the world have a car collection as incredible as Jay Leno, which includes a very special Lamborghini Miura supercar.

The American comedian and former chat show host has amassed a huge collection of cars over the years, ranging from American classics to supercars and muscle cars.

One of the cars he owns is a Lamborghini Miura, and he recently created a video with Daniel Mac at the Audrain Museum, where he discussed the car.

In this video, Leno also revealed that he was lucky enough to get his hands on the Italian car for free, rather than paying $2.2 million.

How Jay Leno got a free Lamborghini Miura

Speaking to Daniel Mac, Leno revealed that when he got his hands on his first Miura, he had paid nothing for it.

Leno said that the engine in it had blown, and the owner’s wife said to just give it to Leno.

That was because ‘he liked the crazy stuff’ according to her.

So he did give the car to Leno, who got the car going again.

Now, though, a Miura could be worth up to $2.2 million, perhaps more depending on the model and condition.

Many consider the Miura to be the first true supercar, which plays a role in its high value.

What made the Miura such a good supercar?

The Miura came out in 1966 and was in production until 1973.

It was a revolutionary car, becoming the first true supercar in the eyes of many.

At the time of its launch, it was also the fastest production car in the world.

Plus, it was the first high-performance production car that had a rear-wheel drive, rear mid-engine layout.

Power came from a 3.9-liter V12 engine, with the earliest versions making 345hp.

Power did increase, with the P400SV of 1971-1973 making 380hp from its V12 engine.

Less than 1,000 of the Lamborghini supercars were built in total, making them incredibly rare.

The most expensive sold was a 1972 Miura SV, which sold for an incredible $4.9 million in June 2024.

That shows just how desirable some versions of the supercar can be.
