This Jeep Wrangler had to be rescued from the Pacific Ocean in Newport Beach, California.
The owner of the Wrangler was feeling confident and decided to test the car’s off-roading ability at Corona del Mar in Newport Beach.
The problem is that driving along that particular beach is illegal.
These images explain why.

How this Jeep Wrangler got stuck in Newport Beach, California
The Newport Beach Fire Department explained what happened on Facebook.
They said they got a call very late at night, or very early in the morning depending on how you look at it, a couple of weeks ago.
They got there at around 5:30 in the morning, local time, and found the Jeep well on its way to Japan.
The Newport Beach Fire Department was able to save the driver, ‘despite the challenging conditions caused by waves rolling the vehicle in the surf’, but not the car, which was completely totaled.

Why it’s a bad idea to take your car too close to the Pacific Ocean
Some cars can ‘swim’.
Elon Musk famously said Cybertruck can ‘swim’ in something called ‘Wade Mode’, and people tried it all kinds of ways.
A Cybertruck owner took it to the beach in Texas, while another decided to wade a deep stream.
It went well because of the truck’s off-roading abilities but, in this case, the Jeep Wrangler owner didn’t get in trouble because his Jeep isn’t good at this sort of thing.

In this case the driver got in trouble because that beach is notoriously subject to sudden and brutal tidal actions and currents that can easily wash anything away.
There’s reason why Orange County made it illegal to drive along that particular beach.
