Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos has a $500 million superyacht that costs an unbelievable price to keep afloat.

The huge 127-metre vessel was made in 2023 and has seen the billionaire travel in style.

It’s not out there alone, though, as the Koru also has a support vessel that costs an additional small fortune.

But what are the actual running costs for a superyacht like this? Stick with us as we dive in.

Superyachts are every billionaire’s dream snap-up

The richest people in the world simply love keeping afloat in style, and many have superyachts under their belts.

In fact, a mystery billionaire has reportedly commissioned a 404ft luxury superyacht that’s beyond belief. It even houses a beach club, dive center, and room for 20 guests.

Plus, one Saudi billionaire installed a daybed on his $320 million superyacht that’s able to transform into a 158-inch LED screen.

So Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was in pretty good company when he purchased his Koru superyacht.

The most luxurious yacht in the world?

The enormous vessel cost Bezos a reported $500 million.

And, according to the manufacturer Oceanco, it’s actually the largest sailing yacht in the world.

The boat features a hull with a double-deck wooden coach house and has three masts to complete its traditional look.

As you’d expect, it has some impressive features inside, too. They include a high-tech movie room, plus a glass-bottom pool to observe ocean life while afloat.

It also has privacy features, like a canoe stern, which serves as a barrier when the superyacht is docked in a port.

Koru can play host to 18 guests and house 36 crew members, so Bezos and his team are fully accommodated, that’s for sure.

It costs a mind-blowing amount to keep the superyacht afloat

Aside from costing a pretty penny to snap up in the first place, the yacht costs an additional $25 million every year to maintain – talk about hidden running costs.

Plus, the huge yacht even has an additional support vessel that costs a small sum of $10 million called Abeona, and despite it being a shadow boat, it’s still bigger than most yachts that we’ve seen.

Abeona is sizeable enough to house up to 45 members plus medical staff, meaning this boat and its sidekick really do have the room to house a small village.

Luckily, Jeff Bezos’ estimated net worth is $189.1 billion, so we’re sure the running costs barely dent his bank balance.

The boat has a top speed of 17KM and was delivered in 2023, so it’s still a baby in the grand scheme of things.

There’s just one question we all want answered, though: where will Bezos cruise to on this incredible vessel next?
