John Travolta might be best known for shaking those hips and keeping his feet firmly in a groove on the floor, but he’s also become a bit of an aviation legend as he chases the sunsets in his unreal private jet collection.

The iconic bad boy of Grease, Pulp Fiction, and Saturday Night Fever spent most of his early adult life being a heartthrob and a poster boy on Hollywood Boulevard.

But the star-studded street wasn’t his favourite destination in the world, as his aviation passion always put him closer to the real stars.

Now in his 70s, Travolta is the proud owner of an impressive private jet fleet, boasting four planes and a license to pilot four more.

While many celebrities opt for flashy cars to flex their wealth, some of the more iconic actors have chosen to travel to sets in style, flying around the world in their own private jets.

Harrison Ford is one actor who famously prefers gliding through the air to driving on the ground, piloting his own jet frequently – even with the odd mishap here and there.

But John Travolta might just have the best private jet collection out there.

Not only does he have a house designed after his aviation obsession, decked out with its own hangar and runway, but he also owns no less than four private jets.

His private jet collection kicks off with some smaller run-around jets in the Dassault Falcon 900 and Eclipse 500. These jets are a popular choice for private travel, favouring short-haul trips with cheaper running costs.

Then, things get bigger. Travolta was gifted a Boeing 707-138 by Qantas as he became an ambassador for the brand.

A more luxurious Boeing 737-300 rounds off his collection.

Originally owned by British Airways with a capacity to hold 120 passengers, it was given the VIP treatment by Boeing in 2022.

These four aviators aren’t the only planes he’s owned, though, having let many keys change hands over the years.

Some of these were sold and restored, while he also donated a Canadair CL41 Tutor to charity and had to scrap a DC-3 Dakota after it was ruined in a 2005 Hurricane.

He also has a license to fly more aircraft, after starting lessons at the age of 15.

In addition to the planes that he owns, he can also fly the Boeing 747, Gulfstream II, the Hawker 125, the Lear 24, 25, and 36, the British Vampire Jet, and the Canadair CL-41 Tebuan jet.

He clearly still loves flying too, having recently been pictured landing his jet, with his family aboard, on runways in Australia and New Zealand.

From being the star of Grease to being a sunset-chaser in the skies, John Travolta really does live the high life.
