This Kansas man rescued a 1963 Mercury and took it out into the daylight for the first time in 20 years.
He narrowly rescued the classic auto from the crusher, as no one seemed to recognize its value, and it had been abandoned in a building since 2005.
The Mercury was difficult to get out back into the sunlight because it was missing its wheels, and he needed to use some donor lug nuts from other cars to get it rolling.
This extraction had a surprising full-circle moment because when the Kansas man arrived at the building, he realized it had a heartwarming link to his first real job.

1963 Mercury saved from the crusher sees the sunlight once more
The idea of a car crusher is a very sad one, especially when a rare or beloved car is destined for it. But this Kansas man managed to rescue a special classic just before it was sent to be crushed.
This YouTuber got wind of a 1963 Mercury that had been parked in a building since 2005 and had since been left there, so he headed to rescue it before the worst could happen.
When he arrived at the building, he found the car in a rough shape. The years of neglect showed on the body of the car- the Mercury was missing all of its wheels and most of its original lug nuts.
Silas, from Adventures Made From Scratch, decided that his best option was to use donor lug nuts from other cars to get it out into the sunlight.

A heartwarming full-circle moment
Silas also realized that the building where his new car was abandoned was the same one where he had his first-ever job, fixing up old bikes.
And now, while doing his dream job, he’s back to pick up a car that needed his help.
As the Mercury rolled outside, the significance of the moment was clear for everyone to see as it was the first time the classic had seen sunlight in almost 20 years.
Silas plans to turn this forgotten relic into a roadworthy rocket ship once more. He was overjoyed that he managed to save this old classic from the worst fate known to cars – the crusher.
