A Kansas mechanic has explained why he charges the big bucks for a Lamborghini oil change on a gorgeous but complex Lamborghini Aventador supercar.
YouTuber and mechanic David Long, AKA the Car Wizard, was looking at a 2016 Lamborghini Aventador SV supercar a few months ago and had to give the Italian thoroughbred an oil change.
As the owner of the supercar found out, however, an oil change for such an exotic and sporty car was going to cost several hundred dollars.
But there were good reasons for this, as Long explained in the video detailing the steps.

Why the Lamborghini oil change costs so much
Long revealed in his video that he had to charge $500 for the Aventador’s oil change.
The main reason it costs so much for the supercar is the amount of work involved in doing it.
On a ‘regular’ car, such as a Nissan Altima or a Chevrolet Malibu, changing the oil can take as little as 15 minutes at the quick lube.
Long’s video showed the amount of work involved in getting to the various parts of the engine to do the job.

On an Aventador, as the video showed, the underside of the car needs to be removed.
That’s followed by two cross members, the draining of oil from six different plugs, and refilling them again.
But that’s not with any oil, as the Aventador is happiest with up to 15 quarts of high-performance, and expensive, oil.
The Aventador’s complexity makes an oil change a struggle
It’s this complexity that makes an oil change on a Lamborghini Aventador such a struggle.
Taking all these parts off the Lamborghini will also add to the time needed to complete the job.
That means more labor costs and more time for Long and his team to spend on the Aventador.
Sometimes, where you go for the oil change can impact the cost, too.
Dealerships can often be more expensive, but an independent garage, like Long’s, could be more personal and less pricey.
No matter where you go, though, one thing is for certain.
An oil change on a Lamborghini supercar is not something you can pay for with less than $50!
