Brooklyn-based artist KOZO spent three months transforming a fleet of luxury cars into drivable art, with plenty of small details to admire.
‘A World Within’ is a project borne out of a collaboration between The Peninsula hotel in London and the CART Department.
It brings together two ‘defining pillars’ of the Peninsula brand – contemporary art and high-end cars.
KOZO got to work his magic on a line-up of six cars, and they look absolutely sensational.

Cars and art often come together beautifully
As we’ve seen time and time again, automotive art is worth celebrating.
Whether it’s a life-sized Porsche 911 carved out of solid marble or a Volkswagen Beetle turned into a sphere, we’ve seen a lot of remarkable visions.
Cars are beautiful enough on their own, but it’s really special when a talented artist gets to utilize their creative juices.
KOZO turned this fleet of cars into a ‘moving gallery’
KOZO created six designs across selected vehicles from The Peninsula London fleet.
These vehicles included two Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII Series II EWBs, a Bentley Bentayga, an electric Austin Taxi, a BMW i7, and a LEVC.

While each car’s new design works on its own, these cars come together to form a ‘single, unified composition’.
The project draws upon several inspirations, including the story of the Peninsula hotel and the wider British setting.
As such, the cars feature a mix of Peninsula motifs, like the Guardian Lions, and London landmarks such as the Wellington Arch.

There’s no denying that these cars are basically art pieces on wheels.
Images of idyllic English countryside and stately homes adorn the cars, giving them a refined and classy feeling.
“The collection brings past and present into conversation, creating unexpected juxtapositions that allow history and myth to feel alive again, inviting the viewer to become part of the story, quite literally, by journeying within the Art Fleet,” KOZO said.

Where and when will these cars be available to view?
The project took three months for KOZO to produce and apply.
As you might expect, creating art on six cars provided its fair share of creative challenges for the artist.
“A car is not a blank white canvas; this project forced me to translate my language as a painter and tattoo artist onto a moving vessel,“ KOZO explained.

“Working with its existing colour (all Peninsula fleet are liveried in Peninsula Green) its curves, the shape of the hood, trunk and doors, and even small details like the side reflectors, all influenced my design choices.
“Every one of those must be accounted for and, ideally, worked into the composition rather than fought against.”

The art fleet will be on view on the streets of London throughout the month of October.
All cars are bookable to guests at the Peninsula for transport services.
