Pool and spa upgrades for the mega yacht

Every three years, The World pauses its global adventures for a refresh.

The ship’s pool deck on Deck 11 is getting a stylish makeover, complete with a sleek new bar, elegant banquette seating, and even a pizza oven.

A watertight canopy, reminiscent of a boat’s sails, provides sun-soaked relaxation by day and a sophisticated ambiance by night.

The pool area will also boast a new jacuzzi, inclusive of showers, cushions, curtains, signage and towel stations.

The mega yacht will also get a boost to its wellness experience, with a new Cold Plunge added to its 7,000 sq ft spa.

This will complement the existing sauna and steam room, completing a full thermal wellness circuit.

A certified instructor will also provide in-person and virtual Cold Plunge and Breathwork classes.

Add in salon upgrades and heated floors in the treatment rooms, and spa days on board The World just got even better.

Custom adventure vessel

Fitness lovers and golf enthusiasts will also be thrilled with what’s in store for The World.

Deck 12’s putting green is being modified to mimic land-based greens, with realistic contours and turf.

The new indoor golf simulator also allows guests to tee off on over 100 world-class courses.

If gold isn’t your thing, the simulator also provides access to more than 30 different games, including baseball, football, soccer, hockey and more.

If you’re the adventurous type, The World will be bringing on board a custom 10-seat Zodiac Pro 850.

This is the ideal vessel for whale watching and reaching remote locations, due to its maneuverability.

A greener future at sea

In terms of sustainability, the World will be installing shore power, also known as cold ironing, a High Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) system.

This will allow the ship to plug into shore-based electricity while docked, and allow it to shut down its onboard generators, reducing emissions in port.

A new energy-efficient bulbous bow and silicone underwater paint will reduce the ship’s drag and boost fuel efficiency.

On the cooling front, new chillers and fan coil units will be installed to reduce energy consumption.

Meanwhile, 50 private residences will be refurbished with fresh finishes, updated kitchens and bathrooms, and modern appliances, ensuring the most luxurious experience for guests.

With The World assessed by maritime authority DNV as having a fatigue age of only 5.6 years (despite its chronological age of more than 20 years), the World seems posed to sail full speed ahead into the future.
