Las Vegas cops have deployed the world’s first Tesla Cybertruck police fleet.

And it came about because of an unfortunate event.

Tesla’s marquee truck was involved in a disastrous event back at the beginning of 2025.

And it led to a mysterious donor gifting 10 units to the Las Vegas Police Department.

Earlier this year, the Cybertruck was involved in a pretty dramatic ordeal.

You might remember that the EV truck made the news for exploding in Las Vegas.

And, as you can imagine, it made headlines around the world.

As horrible an ordeal as it was, it actually did lead to some positivity.

Following the explosion, the Las Vegas Police Department made a surprise announcement.

An anonymous figure donated 10 Tesla Cybertruck units to the Police.

And it turns out that the Cybertrucks are actually going to be used.

Auto Evolution confirmed that a company called Unplugged Performance got its hands on them.

It’s going to turn the trucks into hardcore patrol vehicles ‘that can stop bullets’, according to the chief of the LVMPD.

So, how has the conversion process gone since then?

It turns out that the Tesla Cybertruck fleet has already started working on the force.

And it is thanks to the UP.FIT division of Unplugged Performance.

This wing of the company specializes in converting Tesla vehicles into police vehicles.

The Cybertrucks received the full police treatment, including electronics, prisoner partitions, push bars, and rock sliders.

Of course, no police vehicle would be complete without pursuit-grade brakes and suspension.

Could the EV truck have a new future in Las Vegas?

Rough estimates suggest that a single Cybertruck could save almost $50,000 over a typical five-year lifespan compared to a conventional gas-powered police vehicle.

Fuel savings alone could be worth up to $12,000 per vehicle for the LVMPD.

Of course, the Tesla Cybertruck itself is a vehicle that needs no introduction.

The electric pickup truck came with perhaps the most anticipation of any vehicle in recent memory.

Its unveiling process memorably saw the glass shattered by brand CEO Elon Musk.

Several years’ worth of delays ultimately saw the Cybertruck finally released to the public in 2023.

And, despite the eye-catching and unique design, it hasn’t caught on in the way Tesla wanted.

But it’s fascinating to see that the Tesla Cybertruck might yet have a future in the law enforcement realm as opposed to the civilian one.
