A bizarre license plate was shared on social media platform Reddit for causing confusion as it had no letters or numbers, but was still legal and highly significant.
Instead of having a license plate in the rectangle where you should find one, the black Lexus in question had a silver crown motif and nothing else.
The confusing crown was shared across social media, with one commenter jokingly saying that the ‘car can move in any direction, but only one square.’
In fact, the Lexus is perfectly legal on the roads of Queensland, for one highly significant reason.

We always love a car-based mystery, and this strange license plate was causing some issues. Well, in fact, it was the lack of a license plate that was truly baffling.
Every now and then, a picture of the black Lexus in question goes viral in the Queensland area, and people are baffled by it all over again.
Instead of a classic license plate with letters and numbers, this black Lexus has a silver crown motif.
Questions over the legality of the license plate and what the crown represents accompanied the picture shared by u/Mighty_mitch on the popular social media site, Reddit.

Despite lots of chess-based jokes in the comments, like the person who said:
“Car can move in any direction, but only one square.”
And another joked that it could be Top Gear‘s Stig, but the internet gave him an answer.
Turns out that the black Lexus belongs to the Governor of Queensland. And the exclusive plate is for security and formal identification. But this isn’t the first time a government official has had an identifying license plate.
Currently, the Governor of Queensland is Dr Jeanette Young. So she was spotted out and about driving in her official car, and a low-profile security team member was likely nearby.
The crown holds significance for a few reasons. Firstly, it shows Dr Young’s role as a representative of the King. But also, it’s Queensland, and what do queens wear?
One thing is for sure, the police won’t be pulling her over anytime soon…
