At 21 years of age, Mohamed is London’s youngest black cab driver, having already aced the notoriously difficult Knowledge of London test.
Black cabs are absolutely iconic in the UK, even now that they’re being replaced by more modern ones that look slightly different.
More to the point, becoming a black cab driver is no joke.
A lot of people would call the Knowledge of London test impossible, but Mo aced it in record time.

How he became London’s youngest black cab driver
Mohammed, who also documents his daily job on Instagram, is the youngest licensed black cab driver in the UK.
In order to become a driver, you have to complete the famously challenging Knowledge of London test.
It was introduced as a requirement for taxi drivers in 1865 and it generally takes students up to four years to master.
You have to memorize over 25,000 roads and routes, and learn how to get to thousands of key destinations including hospitals, theaters, and landmarks by heart.

The story behind the black cab
Even though London has other ‘regular’ taxis and ride-hailing services like Uber, the black cab remains the most iconic and recognizable taxi in London.

It is officially known as the Hackney carriage, after the borough of London of the same name, but most people call it a black cab because, well, it’s generally painted black.
Nowadays some black cabs are actually not black, either because they’re painted white or because they’re covered in ad stickers that end up making them super colorful.
But some things are set in stone, which is why people still call them black cabs even when they aren’t black, just like some people in NYC call them yellow cabs even when they aren’t yellow.
