This is the Hongqi E-HS9, a luxury EV that can’t help but look oddly similar to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, although that’s completely intended, of course.
This SUV is the Chinese answer to the limitations of a Roll-Royce, and it wants to be just that while costing $200,000 less.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen another car trying to look like an existing vehicle, but it never gets old.
This one has an ‘extraordinary’ feature to make up for it, and it’s actually pretty convenient.

Hongqi E-HS9 luxury EV is a Rolls-Royce Cullinan from China
Whether or not you’ve heard of Hongqi as a brand, it stays true to one thing.
That is creating vehicles that are ‘inspired’ by luxury SUVs and sedans but come at a much cheaper cost.
For instance, the Hongqi Guoya is a luxury sedan that borrows design elements from the likes of Bentley, Cadillac, and – you’ve guessed it — Rolls-Royce.
The Guoya may be a frankenvehicle with elements from different cars, but the Hongqi E-HS9 is focused on just one car.
That would be the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which – if anything – is an iconic SUV.
The Cullinan redefines luxury, and you can learn all about it here.
By now, you would have noticed similarities, particularly on the car’s front end.
Such similarities are why enthusiasts call Hongqi the ‘Rolls-Royce of China’ — and it’s certainly evident.
Although it may look and somewhat feel like a Rolls, there’s a massive upside, too.
The actually good parts
It costs $200,000 less than a Cullinan without extensive customizations, and if anything, that is a massive win.
Unfortunately, the E-HS9 luxury EV is limited to certain markets. It is widely available in Asia and the Middle East.
However, the automaker debuted this SUV at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed for some European markets.
It will soon be available in Germany, and other markets might also receive it soon.
By the way, many iconic cars were unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, including this F1-inspired hypercar from Redbull.
Furthermore, the E-HS9 has one quirk up its sleeves, and it is genuinely a lifesaver.
There’s a button that allows you to lower the car’s suspension, so loading and unloading luggage in the boot is easier.
That’s some added convenience, but you obviously will miss out on the Spirit of Ecstasy and the signature umbrella.
