Man sees if he can successfully fly a $3,000,000 jet after only one hour of training

Think you’re brave? This guy tried landing a Cirrus jet with no previous training, and the result was pretty interesting.

Even though, to be fair, there are a few caveats and a few ifs and buts.

Also, we should point out that this is something most people think they can do.

Surveys don’t lie.

Can you really fly a jet with no training?

Broadly speaking, the short answer is probably not.

The very best one can hope for is to ‘crash-land’ the plane using a simulator.

And even in that case, you’re really only doing maybe 30-40 percent of the work, because there’s generally an instructor, and the instructor is doing everything for you.

And yet, amazingly, people seem to be convinced that the exact opposite is true.

Research has shown that at least one in three people thinks they could land a plane.

It’s unclear why so many believe that landing a plane is somehow easy.

Trained pilots can land a plane after spending hours on end using simulators, and then even more hours as co-pilots.

And yet somehow a lot of people seem to think anybody can do it.

Strange.

How this YouTuber pulled this off

YouTuber MrRoflWaffles attempted to fly a $3 million Cirrus Vision Jet G2 with no prior experience after using a Microsoft simulator for just one hour.

The video was actually paid for by Microsoft, apparently, because the whole point was to showcase how good their flight simulator is.

And it more or less worked.

The YouTuber said he only used the simulator for one hour, which sounds a little implausible, so maybe it was more than that.

And he did have a trained pilot who helped him a lot with some crucial maneuvers, but it is true that he sort of flew and landed the plane with nearly zero training.

Having said that, this is definitely a case of ‘don’t try this at home’ or in the sky.
