There are few things in life scarier than when your car clunks to a sudden halt. But what this man found out about why his car stopped working was truly nuts.

Hopefully, this has never happened to you, but the feeling in your stomach as your car makes horrible crunching noises is enough to send even the strongest of drivers into a nausea-infused pit.

However, when this Chinese man fell into said nausea pit, he crashed hard.

That’s because he found 40lbs worth of hazelnuts stuffed in every nook and cranny…

Completely nuts reason this car stopped working

Nuts are an integral part of car manufacturing. Only, if you tried to chew on a lug nut, you’ll need more than a filling that will, ahem, cashew a few bucks, geddit?

What cars really don’t need are 40lbs worth of hazelnuts inside them.

But that was the fate for this Chinese man, as he documented his arrival at a friend’s garage on Weibo.

Mr Wang, a driver from Jixi City, China, had found that his car was experiencing all kinds of mayhem since November 20, but persisted through the noise until last week.

Taking the car to a friend’s garage, he claimed that it just needed a quick checkup, but as soon as he opened the hood, there were entire hoards of hazelnuts that had been stored inside for the hibernation season.

The car was stored inside a garage, which made this worrying, as there had not been an influx of hazel nuts dropping from a tree and into the filters.

Instead, it was furry creatures that had been storing them inside the vents and under the windshield.

According to the Weibo post, it was rats that had caused the issue as they had been storing up for the winter.

Wang took to the social media site after his car stopped working, sharing a video of hazelnut-gate.

He revealed that the entire clean-up job was a laborious two-hour process.

Still not the weirdest reason for a breakdown

While this man clearly had a rodent infestation that was soon cleared out, we’ve seen some more peculiar reasons for breakdowns involving animals.

Particularly, some people have headed to the garage only to find that the reason their car stopped working was because of a snake living in the engine.

Still, the slithery, scaled serpents certainly keep the cars cleaner than the nut-loving rats.

At least this man could now give the hazelnuts a good cleaning, leaving him with a year’s worth of tasty snacks.
