Man who's building a real Ferrari F40 needed to sell multiple personal cars to create 'coolest car'

Building a car from scratch never comes easy, and someone is trying to build an actual road-legal Ferrari F40 from the ground up to create the ‘coolest car’ ever.

That’s right, a custom-built F40 race car that will be able to hit the streets.

If you have no idea, such projects can usually take quite a while even to kick off, let alone reach the end.

YouTuber building a ‘real’ Ferrari F40 from scratch

The team from the YouTube channel StanceWorks wanted to push themselves to their limits, and what better way to do it than building something like the Ferrari F40?

In a new video series on YouTube, they announced this build and its future.

For some context, these guys are no strangers to such projects, and it took them several years to create a Honda-swapped Ferrari 308 GTBi, which eventually turned out to be a track-only beast.

However, learning from their experience, they decided their new project must be something that could soar on the streets.

That’s precisely what their ‘planned’ F40 aims to be, and the work on it has already begun.

Unlike the newer models like the 12Cilindri and the Ferrari F80, the F40 is relatively easier to work with.

Now, the Ferrari F40 is as iconic as supercars get, and building one yourself isn’t exactly like a Lego build experience.

Several enthusiasts have an F40 in their collections, and some, like this Romanian billionaire, even Forget that they own it.

Selling old rides just to get parts for the ‘coolest car’

Swapping parts on cars like these can be a task in itself, but the difficulty level takes a hike when it comes to doing everything from scratch.

But it seems the YouTubers realize that — which is why they’re ready for what’s in front of them.

To start it all off, the team had to clear two cars out of their inventory just to cover the costs of the (incomplete) body parts.

Although they got all-original parts, with some being new, the first expenses didn’t exactly provide hope.

Moreover, the cars that they sold weren’t just any ‘everyday’ rides, either.

They got rid of their project BMW E28 (5 Series) and BMW E30 (3 Series) to acquire the right parts.

By the way, getting these delivered took nine months, so you get the idea of how long it’s going to take.

All things considered, this Ferrari F40 will undoubtedly be one of the most interesting projects if things keep going their way.
