Man builds virtual supersonic Boeing 757 by making small tweak and people are saying it's an 'Alibaba Concorde'

The Boeing 757 is already considered one of the fastest airliners ever built, but one aviation YouTuber decided it still wasn’t quick enough and decided to make it supersonic.

So he set out to transform the iconic jet into an ‘Alibaba Concorde’ using a surprisingly simple modification.

The experiment began in a flight simulator, where YouTuber Swiss001 jokingly claimed the 757’s biggest problem was that it wasn’t ‘pointy enough’.

Inspired by Concorde’s famously sharp nose, he gave the aircraft a dramatic makeover and discovered the results were both hilarious and unexpectedly effective.

Boeing 757 gets a supersonic makeover

The creator’s first airplane modification was to add a long, pointed nose similar to the one found on Concorde.

The result was a Boeing 757 that looked a plane wearing plague doctor mask.

To make the design even more authentic, he added a functioning droop nose similar to Concorde’s famous mechanism, which lowered during takeoff and landing to improve pilot visibility.

While the change wasn’t expected to improve acceleration, the goal was to see whether a more aerodynamic front end could increase the aircraft’s top speed.

And surprisingly, it did.

The modified 757 managed to reach Mach 0.906, comfortably exceeding the aircraft’s normal operating limit of around Mach 0.86.

There was just one problem: the wings couldn’t really handle it.

The ‘Alibaba Concorde’ goes all-in

With the aircraft now pushing beyond its certified speed limits, the creator turned his attention to the wings.

A first attempt involving heavily swept wings failed to deliver the desired performance, so he took things much further.

The original Boeing 757 wings were replaced with Concorde-style delta wings, creating a bizarre hybrid frakenconcorde.

Unfortunately, the changes created a whole new set of problems.

The aircraft struggled to take off, became difficult to control, and still lacked the engine power needed for sustained supersonic flight.

Eventually, the YouTuber admitted that turning a Boeing 757 into a true supersonic airliner would require so many Concorde parts that it would effectively become a Concorde anyway.

Still, the experiment achieved its goal in the weirdest way possible.

By pointing the aircraft into a steep dive, the modified jet briefly crossed Mach 1 before ending its journey in a spectacular crash.

Not exactly a practical design for commercial aviation, but enough to convince viewers they had just witnessed what was dubbed by a commenter as the world’s first virtual ‘Alibaba edition Concorde’.
