This man struck gold when he came across a 1971 Fargo Sweptline pickup truck whilst helping to clean up a farm.

As you might expect, the truck was in need of some TLC.

Shots of the truck were shared to Reddit, as the man documented his journey in getting the vehicle back into shape.

Suffice to say, it was soon looking like a whole new truck.

Finding a 1971 Fargo Sweptline on a farm

Reddit user Fun-Cup8899 shared a snap of the van and wrote: “Cleaned up a old farm yard with a buddy for the family. Got this as payment.”

The picture showed a very dusty looking van sitting in what appeared to be a barn.

As we’ve shown countless of times, you can find some amazing vehicles inside barns.

Just take this humongous barn collection filled with 230 classic cars as an example.

Getting a truck as payment is a great perk – but there was some work that needed to be done before it could hit the road again.

In his next post, he said: “Installed the new starter today, motor spins but no spark.

“Likely cause is the electric ignition module or the resister block.

“But gave the truck a quick bath to get most of the crap off it.

“There is definitely some rust and dent/scratches to fix, but she sure is pretty.”

She sure is – and plenty of fellow Redditors agreed.

One person wrote: “Good Lord that thing cleaned up well.”

Another spoke for us all when they commented: “What is a Fargo and how do I find one in a barn? This is the epitome of what a barn find should be.”

“She’s a keeper,” remarked someone else.

What is the future of this truck?

In a follow-up post, the man wrote: “Was working on getting it running today to no avail. Cannot for the life of me get spark.

“I am getting the proper boltage everywhere have cleaned the points, my next step is to get new wires and a coil.

“May even put new points into it. The wires definitely need replaced, the coil is probably still good but it’s a cheap part and easy elimination of issue.

“The points had corrosion on them and bi didn’t look at the advance/retard plates yet but I’m sure there is correction there as well.”

No doubt he’ll keep everyone updated with his progress on this stunning 1971 Fargo Sweptline, which is already shaping up very nicely.

It’s always nice when a restoration is documented on somewhere like Reddit.

This American dad shared his journey fixing up a Citicar with the site, after admitting he purchased it because he liked ‘weird’ cars.
