British YouTuber Matt, who runs High Peak Autos, recently bought a $273,882 Bentley Continental Flying Spur for less than a Nissan Qashqai to see if it was the bargain of the century.
Matt regularly buys cheap cars to see if they are wrecks, or gems just needing a refresh, but this incredible Bentley was something truly special.
The 2008 Continental Flying Spur cost the YouTuber just $55,000 Australian, which is roughly $38,000 in the United States.
So the big question was whether the car was a true bargain or if that price meant it was too good to be true.

How many miles had the Bentley Continental Flying Spur done?
In total, this luxury car had done 120,000 miles, and it was 18 years old.
Yet looking at it, you’d have thought the car was brand new.
Under the hood, there’s a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine, all-wheel drive, plus air suspension.
Don’t forget, there’s enough leather inside to, as Matt said, ‘retrim your living room.’
Even better, its three previous owners had it serviced properly, and it had all its documentation.

It’s a long car, however, longer than a Mercedes-Benz S Class, but it is a proper luxury car.
The Bentley looked great too, thanks to its chrome grille, handsome proportions, and very clean leather interior.
So, initial impressions for this car were excellent.

Was this bargain Bentley worth the money?
With 552hp under the hood from the W12 engine, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur is no slouch.
Yet, as Matt showed while driving it, the W12 is incredibly quiet.
The car was smooth, comfortable, the power was delivered effortlessly, and it’s packed with features.
Watching him drive the Bentley, it was difficult to argue against the car over the Nissan Qashqai.
Why buy a bog-standard Nissan Qashqai SUV when you can have a stunning Bentley for the same price?
In conclusion, then, despite the high mileage, this car was certainly worth the money.
Matt said it’s actually a shrewd buy, as this particular one has been looked after very well.
He puts it perfectly at the end, and says, “Life is simply too short to drive boring cars.”
So, definitely this Bentley Continental Flying Spur over a Nissan Qashqai!

A brief history of Bentley
1919 – The Founding: W.O. Bentley establishes Bentley Motors in London. His first car, the 3-Liter (1921), becomes an instant icon for its reliability and speed, eventually winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924.
Late 1920s – The ‘Bentley Boys’ Era: Wealthy British racers dominate Le Mans with the Speed Six and the supercharged 4½-Liter ‘Blower’ Bentley. These cars cement the brand’s reputation for rugged, high-performance engineering.
1931 – The Rolls-Royce Era: Following the Great Depression, Rolls-Royce acquired the company. This period shifts focus toward ‘silent sports cars,; most notably the 3½-Liter (1933), which combined Bentley’s power with Rolls-Royce’s refinement.
1952 – The Grand Touring Icon: Bentley launches the R-Type Continental. As the fastest four-seater in the world at the time, its sleek ‘fastback’ silhouette remains the primary design inspiration for modern Bentleys.
1980s – Reclaiming Performance: Under the ownership of Vickers, the company moves away from being a ‘rebadged Rolls-Royce.’ The Mulsanne Turbo (1982) and Turbo R reintroduce the brand’s focus on massive torque and effortless speed.
1998–2003 – The VW Revolution: The Volkswagen Group acquires the company and invests heavily. The launch of the Continental GT (2003) revolutionized the brand, becoming a global bestseller and the definitive modern grand tourer.
2015–Present – New Horizons and Electrification: Bentley enters the luxury SUV market with the Bentayga (2015). Today, the ‘Beyond100’ strategy guides the brand toward a fully electrified future, starting with hybrid versions of the Flying Spur and Continental GT.
