This American man suffered a heart attack before he finished restoring his late brother’s Dodge Viper, but he refused to give up.

The WD Detailing team paid a visit to Matthew, who had been working on a 1994 Dodge Viper for quite some time.

It’d originally belonged to his brother Stan, who had passed away in 2015.

Matthew wanted to restore the car in honor of his brother, and not even a heart attack could diminish his ambition.

Restoring a beloved Dodge Viper

This Dodge Viper had been sitting in Florida untouched for 17 years.

As a result, the clear coat was peeling and it desperately needed a touch up.

Despite a few imperfections, this was clearly a beautiful car.

Matthew had made on the start on the car, particularly with regards to the bearings, tires, and seats.

But health issues pushed him to hit pause on the project.

“In December of 2019, I had a massive heart attack and my heart stopped 11 times,” Matthew told WD Detailing.

“And I wasn’t able to do anything [with the car].”

That’s where WD Detailing come into the picture.

This channel has done its fair share of car resurrections in the past – there was this Ford F-250 Ranger which had been away for 20 years, whilst this C4 Corvette sat unused for 30.

And then of course there was this 1971 Dodge Challenger, which had spent 40 years off the road.

But would they be able to work their magic this time around?

Restoration process from inside out

The WD Detailing set to work on fixing up the Dodge Viper, which included scrubbing it up both inside and out.

The interior got some new seat cushions, which improved the look dramatically.

They cleaned up the rest of the interior using all-purpose cleaner, a steamer, soft brushes, and microfiber towels.

On the exterior, they polished remaining clear-coated areas for the best possible finish.

After all was said and done, it was time to get Matthew’s reaction.

Arriving to see the car with his wife and two daughters, they were all left choked up to see the shiny new car sat before them.

“This is beautiful, thank you so much,” Matthew said, as he tried to hold back tears.
